School is Cool! Or is it...

 My Take on Online Schooling

By Aryan Mukherjee

March 13, 2020. That was the last time I ever went to school. My first impression was that hey, if I get to oversleep and goof off every day of the week for nearly half a year, then I'll take it every day of the week! However, this pandemic is not all sunshine and flowers in the most literal sense, and now that my school will continue to function online, I'm starting to get mixed feelings about this whole pandemic business...

If you are like me, you might be thinking, what gives with this article? Everyone knows that online school is the best thing since sliced bread, so why are you even discussing this? And if you are also like me, your parents are plausibly already packing your bags for the day when you are out of here. So which one of you is correct? Well, first let's get a common misconception out of the way. In a lot of places in the United States, such as Wyoming, the cases are considerably less, and schools are going hybrid and/or are opening completely. We're not talking about you guys. We are talking about places like New York or California(where I live in), where cases spike up every day, and 90% of kids are traveling down VA(virtual academy) road.

Now that that's cleared up, it is fair to note that there are a good amount of pros and cons to online schooling. One pro is, you guessed it, timings. In elementary school, you only have zoom meetings or google meets once a day, and there is a limited amount of homework, so you can easily sleep until midday. If you are productive with your time, you can even manage to take several breaks in between work, and still finish all of your homework. However, there are a couple of drawbacks to this.

Humans have a tendency to adapt quite quickly, especially if the adaptation shifts into their favor. This virus that has altered so many people's lives has made online schooling difficult to adapt to, but nonetheless they will, and this will fixate an idleness into humans that has never been seen before. This country has a problem with electronics. Kids nowadays have iphones, computer, and gadgets galore, and having their eyes super-glued to a computer all day won't accumulate the contrary. Kids will be ever more tempted to ditch school, and text friends, play games, and go on social media, and drawback to online-schooling that is non-existent in traditional schooling.

So, let's spiral back into the question at hand. What is my take on this online pandemonium that is taping our faces to the screens? Well, it definitely has its pros and cons, but whether we like it or not, just like what humans have done for eons now, we must adjust.
