The Chase(Part 1 of the short story collection)

Short Stories

Hello! If you have been following my blog until now, you may know that I write an assortment of wacky tales and stories, and that there isn't a clear theme to my blogs. However, this blog will begin a series of tales containing several short stories that I have written over the period of my elementary school. I hope you enjoy, and please subscribe for more quality blogs!

The Chase

I could hear my heart pounding at a hundred miles per hour. I looked behind me and gasped. He was still there, and gaining distance as the minutes ticked by. I dashed across the battlefield, jumping over obstacles and trying to avoid capture at all costs. I thought of the mission, and how if I failed, it would be the end of the road for me. The predator behind had a lustful malice in his eyes, chasing me with his hand jutting outwards, sprinting behind my figure like a cheetah after a deer. Every moment I slowed down, he would only be one step closer to sealing my fate. I had to keep going, keep my eyes on the road, and think of all I could achieve if he didn’t get to me. Only pure determination fueled my stamina, and only the everlasting presence of his body chasing after mine pushed my legs to go one more step. I turned once more to check up on his position. Big mistake. I felt my leg bludgeon an object, a metal rod. Pain seared through my body, followed by fear. My body smashed against the ground with a hard THUD. I turned in fear and anticipation, knowing that it was all over for me. The looming figure who was after me stepped forward with a dramatic effect, blocking out all sunlight, his hand mere inches away from my body. I tried to scream, but no noise came out of my mouth. Suddenly, he tapped me on my shoulder, and zoomed away shouting only one thing as he vacated.

“Tag, you’re it.”

Stay tuned for the next short story.... The Last Grocery
