From Pain to Champagne
From Pain to Champagne
A thousand pounds of glutton,
Weighing me from on top,
A single move is drudgery,
My muscles aching to a stop.
I see the gleams of stolen opportunity,
Through the sills of my dismay,
Yet the urge to contain such pleasure,
Has something holding me at bay.
When suddenly amidst dejection,
A thud beholds a calling,
A flick of light grits through the darkness,
A brick has slowed my falling.
One by one, pound my pound,
My being is resurrected,
I’m lugged and shoved until compliance,
My fate unlike projected.
Suddenly the moisture heightens,
Machines whir and hiss like snakes,
Yet the arms of care and yielding love,
Are the safari armed with rakes.
I’m fended off just to realize,
These beasts of my demise,
Are configurations for my rebirth,
A keyhole to the prize.
One SWISH! And BOOM! and I’m lunged forth,
My whimpers overpowered,
My legs are spun and curved around,
My feebleness devoured.
Days go on and on and on,
As the machine continually assails,
Yet my brittle legs too spin forth,
A dissipation to my wails.
Running to sprinting, the flop to tread,
Tears run out to sweat,
Pounds and pounds of errors collect,
It’s time to pay off my gourmet debt.
And as the years of training interlock,
I can no longer remember the familiar pain,
As the guiding hands of my self-conscience,
Have now a glass full brim with bubbling Champagne!
Cheers! Good tides come not to those who skim the shore, but to those who swim through their fears. Now go lose some weight.
Interesting take on weight loss. The title is catchy ...it's clever of you to come up with something like this.
