Lincoln Peirce: The Man Behind The Nate


     Who's your favorite spiky-haired, foolhardy, mischief-bound all-star? Who is the best at comics, facial expressions, and getting into detention? Who is the one boy who makes us laugh at every page of his books? If you answered Nate Wright for any these questions, then you are absolutely correct.
     If you didn't conjure this response, don't worry. That's what this blog post is for! At the end of this read, you will be well informed of who and what Big Nate is, and also get a bit of information on Lincoln Peirce, the man behind the Nate. Stick around, because Big Nate is on a roll!

     So who exactly is Nate Wright? Nate is the main character in the Big Nate series. If you were to look up the word "mischief" in the dictionary, you might find a picture of his head there. He is constantly doing things that can get him into detention, and he loves to doodle. Usually, he make comics, and most of those comics aren't in the favor of Mrs. Godfrey-a teacher whom he does not see eye to eye with.

      Now that that's cleared up, let's get on with business. If you've read a Big Nate book, and you are a child, you should know that Big Nate is a Sui Generis work, or masterpiece. But who is responsible for those hours of perfect illustrations, that slapstick comedy, and the phenomenon known as Nate? It's Lincoln Peirce, the man who made more than forty books in the Big Nate series.
     Lincoln was born on October 23, 1963, in the state of Iowa. For most of his childhood, he resided in Durham, New Hampshire, and was first introduced to comic strips at age 7. It was love at first sight.
     Eventually, to pursue this career, he earned a Bachelor's in Art(B.A) from Colby College and a Master's Degree in painting and drawing from Brooklyn University. He also studied in prestigious art schools and taught at Xavier high school. His love of drawing eventually transformed into his cartooning career when his comic strip Big Nate was debuted in 1991. Big Nate has been successful ever since and Lincoln has made about fifty books since then. His net worth is 73.73 million.
     
     Regarding Big Nate, Lincoln Peirce has not only made a book series about him, but also several comic strips. His masterpieces have been published in over 25 different countries, and he even made Big Nate digital, in his app, Big Nate: Comix by U! Though he has been inspired by other comic strips, his main inspiration for Nate was from his own middle school experience. Not to spoil the story for you, but just like Nate, Mr. Peirce loves comics,doodling,snacks,etc, and has a dislike for cats and egg salad.


      As you can see, Lincoln Peirce is an awesome author and person, and is an influence to all people who want to do something they love in life... and be successful.
